The History of Hapkiyusul
The origins of Hapkiyusul are not fully documented, but it is believed to have evolved from India, through China and Korea, to Japan, where early records were kept. In more recent history, the system was passed down from Takeda Sokaku to Choi Yong Sul, to Kim Yun Sang, and now to Jarrod Taylor
About the Founder of Hapkiyusul Global
Jarrod Taylor, originally from Rosebank, Northern New South Wales, moved to Brisbane for university before relocating to South Korea in 1999. He spent 24 years there, studying under the guidance of Kim Yun Sang from March 11, 2002. Over his 19 years of direct study, he accumulated approximately 17,000 hours of physical practice and countless additional hours exploring the philosophical, historical, and theoretical aspects of Hapkiyusul.
After relocating back to Australia in 2023, Jarrod returned to the Byron Bay region with the vision of sharing Hapkiyusul’s benefits with people locally, across Australia, and around the world.
